‘Borrowed Light’
Barbican, London
5 June 2018 - 30 May 2019
The Barbican opens Troika's most recent large scale installation 'Borrowed Light'. The work will be on display throughout 2018 until June 2019.
'Borrowed Light' is a suspended mechanised structure that moves a 24 m long scroll of photographic film, thereby resembling an artificial infinite loop of sunset and sunrise. The installation was formally inspired by moving panoramas and the potential these offered to blur the boundaries between experience and physical spheres, natural and manmade spaces.
With this installation Troika continue their research into the ways technology mediates our relationship with reality and how the digital world increasingly reaches out into the physical one.
