’Labyrinth of a Straight Line’ consists of a labyrinthine, meandering path of tessellated natural stone. When seen from particular viewpoints, it creates the optical impression of a three- dimensional architectural structure that seemingly protrudes from the ground.

To formulate this labyrinthine pattern Troika utilised a pathfinding algorithm inspired by the site’s history: a complex network of railway tracks by the Eastern Counties Railway. With ’Labyrinth of a Straight Line’ Troika continues their research into the invisible nature of algorithms as well as the labyrinth as an archetype – both as a pattern widely spread in the world, and as a psychological phenomenon that is part of universal human consciousness.
