Anima Atman

Clusters of thistle plants growing out of mounds of silicon rocks shimmering under bright lights move with a degree of liveness that seems unnatural. As if imbued with an otherworldly energy, their leaves and stems curl and dance in the manner of a slow-motion film. Anima Atman exploits the perceptual qualities of flickering LED light for the human sensorium to challenge our cognitive biases and ultimately our reluctance to recognise non-human agency. An uncanny metallic soundscape underscores our temporary encounter with this otherworldly species-being, questioning the boundary between fantasy and technological illusion.
